A Manufacturing B2B Interoperability Testbed
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes the NIST Manufacturing Business-toBusiness Interoperability Testbed developed at the Manufacturing Systems Integration Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The testbed is geared to advance state of practice and art in interoperable information systems for the extended manufacturing enterprise. We discuss lessons learned while developing a Web-based, distributed architecture in support of piloting and testing interoperability trials in collaboration with manufacturing organisations and software vendors. We make a case that the combination of industry-focused testing activities and bottom-up testing research and development efforts within this testbed offer unique benefits to all stakeholders in advancing interoperable systems for the manufacturing enterprise.

In today’s global environment, where millions of business transactions are completed every single day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, B2B interactions are forced to transcend common collaboration strategies. Businesses are becoming aware of the fact that B2B enterprise interoperability technologies represent the wave of the future. The new direction for business communication overcoming present...
متن کاملAn Industrial Validation of a Semantic-Mediation Architecture
This paper presents an industrial validation of a semantic-mediation architecture that enables business-to-business (B2B), standards-based interoperability between heterogeneous legacy applications. The architecture was implemented using a state-of-the-art semantic-mediation toolset for design-time and run-time integration tasks. The design-time tools supported a domain ontology definition, mes...
متن کاملEvaluation of Component-Based Reconfigurable Machine Controllers
The lack of interoperability and integration standards is severely hindering manufacturing productivity. To address this problem, a General Motion Control (GMC) Testbed has been developed at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with one of its goals to validate the Open Modular Architecture Controller (OMAC) interface specification for reconfigurable, plug-and-play open-archite...
متن کاملThe Fundamental Technologies for Open B2b – a Survey
B2B is a strong multidisciplinary research field with many constituent disciplines and technologies. This paper deals with the B2B interoperability in the sense of open component and framework standards. In particular, underlying network technologies, protocols, the components and concepts of Web intelligence, and the frameworks for B2B interoperability are described. All technologies described...
